INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) I hear that Mr J. P. Clifford, of Tarata, has disposed of his grocery business and boarding house, Messrs Patterson Bros, of the same place, being the purchaser. The East and West football match took place on Thursday afternoon, and resulted in an easy win for the latter by 25 to 6. The proceeds go towards the band fund, which benefits, to the extent of ,£6 12/. A very enjoyable welcome home was tendered to Mr E. Olson (late Secretary of Inglewood bacon company) on his return to Inglewood, after an absence of about three years in America and England. At the intermediate meeting of the Borough Council held on Wednesday evening it was decided to write to the Fire Underwriters' Association with a view to obtaining a reduction in Fire Insurance rates in Inglewood. A petition was presented to the council, signed by a number of townspeople asking them to take this step. If Inglewcodhs excellent water supply is taken into consideration, I have no doubt the council will receive a favourable reply. The Inglewood Dramatic Company announce the second production of the three act comedy, "Not Such a fool as he looks," for October the 9th. As the first production was such a decided success, I should not be surprised to find the Parish Hal! packed on the qth to witness the second performance.
