(Our Own Correspondent.) A meeting was held on Saturday night iu connection with the football club, to arrange for a ball m aid of the club's funds. After a lot of discussion, it was decided to hold a ball on October 4th, Mr D. P. Paterson will be engaged for the music. Mr J. Keogh M.C. Tlie committee are 0. Corbett (Sec), J. 11. Julian, Corkill, J. Keogh.
A meeting was held in connection with the Warea Bides for the purpose of swearing in the members and to arrange about obtaining rifles. The club has fifteen members.
A yery fine specimen of a Maori axe was found the other day by Mr R. Julian. A lot of people say it is the finest they have eycr seen. A meeting of the Horticultural Society was held on Saturday night. There was a fair attendance, and the following were elected as a committee, James Burgess, \V. Kevell, S. Sefton (Sec), J. Millar, E. Mac Donald, T. E. Larking, A. Corbett. It was decided to hold the show in November, A meeting will be held on Tuesday night to elect a ladies' committee, and to arrange for the show programme. A few crops of potatoes in the district are blighted already. This does not look encouraging for planting a large quantity. Local farmers are talking about forming a lodge for the benefit of the farmers.
The Okato Druids are holding a meeting here ou Wednesday evening, 19th inst., on " Druidism."
