Figures supplied to the Gore " Standard " by the secretary of the Hataura Dairy Factory show that the industry is responsible (for suppliers lifting fat cheques. One milking 36 cows sent 18,760 gallons of 1041b, his cheque for the season amounting to £399 Bs, equal to 5d per gallon, or over £ll per cow. Another with 15 cows sent 10,273 gallons, and his cheque was £202, equal to 472 pence per gallon, about £l3 10s per cow. A third with 22 cows supplied 13,000 gallons, receiving in cheques £265, nearly £l2 per cow
