EXHIBITION MATTERS.
?EB TEBSS ASSOCIATION. WEILIJiOTOH, August 10. Sir Joseph Ward stated to-nighlj that he had accepted with regret Bobert Allan's resignation as one of the Executive Commissioners for the International Exhibition. Mr Allan's grounds for resignation are ill health, and the worry and friction connected with the position. Sir Joseph says nothing has been decided with regard to the appointment of a successor, as he wishes to look into matters.

A Wellington resident has complained that on applying for accommodation at a second-class hotel in Christchurch during the Exhibition season, he was quoted £lO 10s per week, or 30s per day. In reply to that complaint the officials of the Licensed Victuallers' Association state that the hotel keepers had assured the housing committee of the Exhibition that no substantial increase in the present rates would be made, and that agree ment hal tsin kept The maximum amount being charged by the leading hotels in Christohurch was 15s per d ly. There is widespread regret atrtht resignation of Mr Bobert Allen, one oi the Exhibition Executive Commissioners, and members of the Executive Committee urge either that Mr G. Munro, the other Commissioner should be replaced by Mr T. E. Donne, or that two now Commissioners should be appointed to aot with him.
