! tPer Press Association.) Wanoanui, August 2. The third inter-island hockey match played here to-day, resulted in a win for the North Island by two goals scored by Coe, to nil. The game was, very fast and interesting, somo splendid play being indulged in by the Northern bait line, Bell, McKenzie, and Eraser. (Joe, Sorreuson, Crump, Rac,, and Thomson proved themselves a very solid lot in attacking, and the Southern forward lino suffered by comparison, but the play as a whole was evenly distributed. Jacobs, the South, Island right-wing half, was repeatedly applauded tor brilliant play. Nicol, also, at back, was conspicuous. Both the goals scored by Coe were splendid shots, aud the result or fine passing among the North front rankers. Ford, Nieoll and Cougrevo gave a good defensive display for the visitors, and Swinburne, Cave, and Ryburn for the Northerners. Mr If. M. Payne was referee aud gayo every satisfaction.
