At a special committee meeting of the Liedertafel held to consider the reply of the Minister in charge of the New Zealand Exhibition to the protest made by the Liedertafel at the treatment of Mr Orchard by the New Zealand Government, {he following resolution, which will be conveyed to the Hon. Mr McGowan, was carried: "That the committee of the Sydney Liedertafel, having seen the whole of the correspondence between Mr Orchard and the entertainment com-' toittee of the New Zealand International Exhibition, considers the reply ot the Minibter, as published in this morning's papers, .unsatisfactory, ■»nd they are still of opinion that in view of the unanimous selection of Mr Orchard by two committees, and subsequent recommendation by the Commissioner, he was unfairly treated by the Minister, in refusing his formal confirmation of Mr Orchard's appointment as conductor, in favor of a local applicant. Further it .is inexplicable that the Minister should have read the correspondence and should haye come to a decision to appoint another person.
