NEW SOUTH WALES. Sydnby, June 19. Speaking at ArncliCEc, Mr Carrutliers, tlie State Premier, announced that the Lands Department would be placed under the control of Commissioners. He claimed that the Government closer settlement policy had placed fifteen thousand people. on the land, and predicted that the year would end with a million pounds surplus, after paying £450,000 off the sinking fund.
