TIMARU HARBOUR BOARD.

PBB PBESS ASSOCIATION. Timahu, May 25. The Harbour Board to-day rejected a motion to increase tlie height of the new rubble breakwater. It is now six feet above high water level and is nearly finished. Mr Maxwell's original design was for a half-tide wall, but the Board made it higher. The engineer was instructed to prepare plans for a wharf along the north mole, and to reclaim an approach to it. A con. ferenco qf delegates of local bodies will be held to-morrow to protest against the Harbour Board striking a farthing rate, the objectors asserting that a smaller rate would meet re. quiremonts. The matter was mentioned at the Board meeting to-day, and th Chairman said they must have the money to carry out further improvements. Negotiations for the sale of the pump dredge to the Geelong Harbour Trust for £13,000 have been fruitless.
