MR SEDDON IN MELBOURNE.
THE CONTROL OF THE PACIFIC Meiboubne, May 24. Mr Deakin states there is not a great deal of business matters to be discussed with Mr Seddon till the latter returns from Adelaide. Mr Seddon, speaking at last night's banquet, said a question demanding attention was the future control of the New Hebrides and o'.her islands of the Pacific. "We should not hesitate to let our opinions be known to Imperial statesmen, who should be made to see that these islands must bo British. The Panama Canal will completely change the commerce of the Pacific, and we want Australians and New Zoalanders to combine in saying that there shall be only one flag dominating the Pacific, and that nig the Union Jack"
