Eeceived 25, 12.40 a.m. Stdnby, May 24. Toe Tariff Commission presented progress reports on the wine growing industry, and recommends that the excise duty on spirit imported for forti tying Australian wine be reduced from a shilling to sixpence per gallon. A number of suggestions regarding the strength and fortifying of wines is also made. With regard to methylated spirits, it recommends that the duty be reduced to six-pence per gallon, wiih accompanying conditions as to sale and use.
