The "Post" says details of the scheme of National Pensions, which the Premier announced in recent speeches, are being worked out by Mr Morris Pox, actuary in the Government Insurance Department, in conjunction with Mr P. W. Frankland, a former aotuary of the Department, but now a resident of Foxton. Mr Seddon'/i scheme is that anyone should be able to deposit a certain sum monthly, say at a Post Office, and that the amount will be subsidised by the Government in proportion to the moans of the depositor, A poor person's deposit, he proposed, should be subsidised to the extent of 25 per cent., and the subsidy would be deer 'ased to ton per eeat. in proportion to the me.ias of the depositor. luterest and compaimd interest would be paid on deposits, and the whole amount would provide an nnnuity for old age. If a husband paid in something, he would not be allowed to touch it without the consont of his wife, and a wife on making a deposit, would not be allowed to touch it without the consent of her husband.
