A SENSATIONAL CHASE.
IN PURSUIT OF SUBPECTED THIEVES. FEB PBKBS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, May 11. ■ A sensational clia9e after two suspected thieves took place to-day. A constable's suspicions being aroußed by two men, a watch was kept. They were seen to catch a horse and gallop off, The constable followed in a oab, but lost night of them. Soon after this, a house was robbed and jewellery and other articles taken. In the meantime, other constables were sent out in pursuit on horseback, and one came up with the men, but after presenting a revolver at him, they escaped into the scrub. Later in the day John Francis O'Keefe was captured while playing cards in an hotel.
