PETROLEUM.
There have been no new developments in connection with the potroloum bore since our last report. The oil is still flowing steadily from tho overflow pipe, but no artificial attempt will be made to stimulate the flow until Mr Fair's return ftom Wellington. Inquiries are coming to hand in shoals from outside rc.-rdiug tho prospects, price of shares etc. Most businoss seems to be done with Auckland, whero the shares, which a little over a week ago were available here at £7 10s, arc now quoted at £2B. Local holders, however, are parting with but a very small portion of their interests.
A cable, inquiry, through Mr Baume M.H.R., has been received, asking the lowest selling price, presumably for the whole concern. The directors replied to the effect that they have cvarv faith in the oil, .but other prospective arrangements prevent them from quoting a selling price,
