NEW PLYMOUTH MAYORALTY.
MR. E. DOCKRILL ELECTED. A SUBSTANTIAL MAJORITY. The polling yesterday in New Plymouth was not as great as had been expected from the evident interest taken, and the enthusiasm displayed by the supporters of the two candidates, Messrs E. Dockrill and J. B. Roy. Early in the day it was thought the polling would, be heavy, as the electors were recording tneir votes rapidly. People were evidently literally following the advice, " poll early." The returns were mado promptly, and tho Returning Officer was enabled to announce the result of the poll before eight o'clock, a remarkably creditable piece of work.
