EGG-LAYING COMPETITION.
PEE PBESS ASSOCIATION. Blenheim, March 31. The total for the forty-eighth week of the New Zealand egg-laying competition was 960, making a grand aggregate of 83,974 and a weekly average per pen of 9'flO. The highest layings were: Lane's Silver Wyandottes (Christchurch) 22; J. Steer's White Wyandottcs (Groymouth) 21. Brooks White Leghorns (South Australia) 21; Newport's Silver Wyandottes (Motupiko) 21. Tho order of the aggregates is as follows, the first five pens consisting of White Leghorns: Leger (Levin) 1335; Brooks (South Australia) 1183 ; Marlborough i A. and P. Association, 1170; Jonathan Hodson, 1162 j Mick Shaw (Blonheim) 1160; Hockey's Brown Leghorn's (Nelson) 1131. The first prize for the month was won by Murphy's Rose Comb Orpingtons (Blenhoim) 97; Brown's White Leghorns (Christehurck) 96; Alexandra Company's White Bocks, 96.
