THE RETURNING FOOTBALLERS
ARJUVAL AT NEW PLYMOUTH. A good number of enthusiasts and friends of the returning footballers mot the team on tlicir arrival by the llotoiti on Thursday morning. There was 110 formal reception, but the meeting of the friends, especially of the Taranaki contingent, was hearty as possible. At the New Plymouth railway station a large crowd assembled to sec the footballers, all of whom looked extremely well. Glasgow, Mynotfc, O'Sullivan, Hunter, and Abbott were singled out for special attention, and had to submit to a period of vigorous hand-shaking and congratulations. Mynott and Abbott remained behind, making the second deletion from the happy ranks of the football family since their. arrival in the Colony. As the train steamed away, rousing cheers were given by tile team for tho New Plymouth players, tho crowd responding lustily to those on the train. Besides those mentioned the following players returned by the EotoitiMessrs Casey, McDonald, Duncan, McGregor, Deans, Corbett, Newton, Thompson and Stead. Mr A. E. G. Rhodes, President of the Now Zealand Bugby Union, travelled with the team. KECEPTION IN WELLINGTON. Mil I'RESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, March 8. The southern members of tho Now Zealand football team arrived from the north by the train to-night, and were given an enthusiastic welcome. They will be formally received by the Mayor to morrow, and three or four Ministers of the Crown will attend the function.
