SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS.
A SUCCESSFUL MEETING, There \va> a big attendance at the New Plymouth Municipal Baths on Thursday afternoon, when the swiiril ming sports organised by the New Plymouth Syiinniing Club, and including several championship events, were held. The arrangements firstclass, and there were no long weary waits between the events. The whole meeting was a credit to the officials. They were:—Judges, A. E. Watkins, L. Bullott, W. L. Newman; supervisor, H. Banehope; stowards, 11. Stokes, J. Elliott, A. 11. Standish ; starter and handicapper, W. Lints; secretary, C. E. Seabright; tiuiek icpers, J. Bennett, J. F. Stohr, J. Roberts and W. Parker. * Boys' Race, under 10 years, Club: Bullard, ssec, 1; Gibbon, scr., 2. 100 Yards, West Coast Championship ; 0. D. Campbell, Waugauui, 1; A. V. Stohr, New Plymouth, 2. A false start, owing to failure of pislol. Muller (Wanganui), and Grant (Hawera) linislieif the course, and refused to swim again. Time alisec. Inter-Club Handicap, 50 Yards— First Heat: Dale, 3sec, 1; A'illiers iisee, 2. Time 3!) sec. Second Heat: Cameron, Usee, 1; Storey, lsec, 2. 'lime lOsec. Third Heat: Standish, Usee, 1; Baird, usee, 2. Time 30sec. Filial: Dale, Hawera, 1; Standish, New Plymouth, 2, A line race between two placed men. Tune 37scc. Boys' Springboard Dive : D. Lang 1, Blvth 2, Four competitors. West Coast Championship, 220 \ards: ,J. Grant (Hawera) 1, A. MulIcr (Wanganui) 2. C. li Campbell (Wanganui) also competed. This was a great race. Campbell and Muller led to within 12 yards of the finish, when Grant came away and won. Time 2niin 51 l-sth sec.

Stohr won on his entry into the water, in which department he excelled. West Coast Championship, 1 40yds.: C. J). Campbell (Wauganui), 1 ; J. lirant (Hanera), 2, .f. Brough lllawerq), anil A, V, Stohr (Xew Ply. mouth) also started. Campbell had a slight lead throughout, and the tirst two gradually lost the third and fourth men, Campbell eventually winning by about six yards. Time, 6,10 2-5. Inter Club Handicap 100 yards,— Dale, 3 sees, 1 ; Dixon, 3 sees, 2. Three others started. (Storey, Brown and Bennett). Dixon led until the home turn, but Dale passed him in the last twenty yards, Time 82secs. West Coast Championship l'olo Match.—Only two teams competed, llawera representatives were: Liddle, Turnbull, Storey, Brough, Yean, Bale and Yillicrs; Xew Plymouth: A. X. Dyne, Seabrighl, Stohr, Benlicit, Dixon, Preshaw and Hanua. the last two being substituted for Stocker and Bullock. In the tirst spell, Hawera led by one goal to nil. Xew Plymouth was heartily applauded for a goal just at the commencement of the second spell, Dixon makings splem|id shot.
