THE SCHOOL ARCHITECT.
Mr .1. Sanderson, Ihe Taranaki Education Hoard's architect, has written to the. Board :
I have the honour to respectfully draw the attention of the Board to the liiiaiicial aspect ot my appointment, which, owing to the greatly increased expenditure, has materially changed during tlie past few years, as shown below. In 10(13 there was expended in buildings £2737 ; in 1904, £4877; in 1905, £4IBB. In 1903, I received £80; in 1904, £BO ; and in 1905, £95 ; total £255. Deducting from this sum travelling expenses, office charges (for which at Stratford I paid £5), stationery, etc., this shows the very low rate of lif pur cent. . . , The present rate, as compared with that when first appointed, is a little more than half. . . With regard to the Technical School, a very large amount of work has already been done, and I would express the desire that I may be allowed the usual charges in connection with this work, this sum having been added to the estimate. On the recommendation of the Finance Committee, the request was granted.
