TRADE UNIONS.
ROYAL COAIMISsION REPORT. Loxiios, February 21. The report of the Royal Connnis sion into trade disputes is published. Five Commissioners are satisfied that the Da'lf Yeaie decision involved uo new principle, and no inconsistency with the legislation of 1871. The ulea that the law was intended to exempt Trade Unions from actions is a mere misconception, resting on no other .)nidation than that of long practical immunity. The majority report holds that on the ground of justice and equity, any objection against disturbing the law is insurmountable.
When Trade Unions wrong out - aiders, there is no more reason why they should be beyond the reach oT the law than any other individual. They recommend legislation whereby the Central authories of a Union may protect theinselves-against the unauthorised and immediately disavowed actions of branch agents.
