COMMON WEALTH ELECTIONS. Sydney, February 22. The llight Hon G. H. Eeid states that the Federal Opposition are united in a determination to fight Labor and Socialism at the next elections. NEW ZEALAND RECIPROCITY; Sydney, February 22. The " Herald," after reviewing the trade between the Commonwealth and New Zealand, says: "The figures point to the fact that if we are to adhere to reciprocity on Hie strict Pro leetionist lines advocated by Sir Joseph Ward, there will be but few lines New Zealand caii grant us preference upon wherein we could not compete with or without preference, bill still fewer upon which we would grant New Zealm I preference."
A SENS VI'IONAL-TlilAL. Adelaide, February 22. A man named Brown, arrested under sensational circumstances on Jan- 1 uarv 11th, was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment on a charge of burglary. He pretended insanity .mid behaved with great violcirc in the dock. It took several constables and warders to overpower him. On h";iring the sentence he threatened to blow out the brains ol the judge when lie regained his liberty.
