NEW PLYMOUTH ELECTRIC LIGHTING.
TO-DAY'S PIiOCEEDIXGS. _ The street electric lighting installation, having now been practically completed, the works will be formally opened to-day. The arrangements for the ceremony have been made by Mr Hues, manager for the contracting company. At the invitation of the Brush Company, His Worship the Mayor, Borough Councillors and others will visit the power house at 2.15, to inspect the generating plant in action. At 8 o'clock in the evening there will be an official gathering at the substation in Liardet-strecl, when the Mayoress will switch on tile light over the whole of the town system. The town, under the rays of the electric light, will then be inspected, after which an adjournment will be made to the Council Chambers, where light refreshnicnts will be provided for Mr Hae's guests.
