Mr Geo. Hutchison, cx-M.H.K. for Patea, who arrived back in the colony on Tuesday, was in New Plymouth on Thursday afternoon. Mr Hutchison has not quite decided as to his future movements, but in all probability will settle either in Wellington or Auckland. Captain Smith, of Wellington, who has been in Auckland in connection with the .Kapanui-Cliiymoi'e collision inquiry, arrived in New Plymouth on Thursday morning by the Jlotoiti. In company with Mrs .Smith a visit was paid to the Keereation Grounds, with which the visitors were charmed. They left again in the afternoon in the Rotoiti for Wellington. Mr Wilson (New Plymouth manager for Arch. Clarke & Sons) and a party of friends, have taken the cottage at the Mountain House for ten days from Saturday. Mr G. Tisch has been recommended to the Borough Council for appointment to the Western Park Committee, vice Mr J. C. George, who resigns on account of ill health. Mr Ernest A. James, sub-editor of " The Press," Clirisichurch. has been appointed editor of ••The New /calami farmers' Weekly," published at Auckland.--Press Association. Mr Mark Cohen, editor of the Dunedm " livening .Star," who has been on an extended visit to a Westland district, was eutertiiinud by combined pressmen of Westland at a complimentary social this evening, staled a Press Association wire last night.
