PROPOSED LABOR PARLIAMENT
NEW PLYMOUTH PROPOSALS. At a meeting of the Executive of the New Plymouth Tradesmen's Association held on Tuesday, correspondence was read from the Department of Labor with reference to the proposed Conference of employers and employed, to be held at Christchurch. After considerable discussion it was resolved that Mr Hal. Goodacre bo appointed delegate to represent the Association at the Conference, provided the Government defray all expenses. The present proposal of the Government is only to pay the fare of delegates, a niggardliness the Association considers quite unjustified in view of the fact that the Conference has been practically summonea by the Government. Should the representations of' the Association in this connection be abortive no delegate will be sent from here, but efforts will be made to secure representation through the delegate from some other body.
MORE SUGGESTIONS. PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION, Wanoanvi, January 16. At a meeting of tho Employers' Association to-night, it was resolved: "That while the Association is not adverse to the Premier's proposed Conference, it cannot, in view of the meagre information given and the difficulties disclosed, see its way to send delegates; and the Association also considers that before a joint conference is held, that there should be a separate conference for employers and workers."
