AUSTRALIAN TURF NEWS. Received 10.1.4 a.m. Sydney, January 9. 'One hundred and seventeen horses have been entered for the Doncasfccr Handicap, and 76 for the Sydney Cup. Maniapoto and Apologue are included in both events. The programme committee of the iManaia Racing Club met on Friday and decided to cut out the hurdle event from the programme and substitute a five furlongs race. They also altered the order of the events. The alterations are to be submitted 'o a meeting of the general committee on Friday next. A 'couple of interesting facts (savs " Whalebone " in the Auckland "Star") came under notice when Ladv Warwick won the Auckland Trotting Club's Pony Clip last Wednesday. The first was that F. Davis, who rode Ladv W-rwick, won the first Pony Cup run for at Epsom on Sepoy; and the second that Sepoy, who is now used as a hack by G. Wright, the Ellerslie trainer, was used to lead Lady Warwick to and from the course. The Wallace—Faraway mare Ailsa has already shown great improvement since joining the Porirtia stable. Out of five'stnrts'during the holiday meetings tne mare has won three races. Ailsa was seen out on".io less than fourteen occasions, but only earned one winning bracket.
