DARING BURGLARIES.
PER PRESS ASSOCIATION'. Dcxbdix, December U. Tno daring daylight burglaries were carried out 011 Wednesday. The premises of F.. 11. Lough, at St. Clair, were broken into during the absence of ill's Lough, and a ijiiatitif y of jewellery stolen. Later 011 the house of John •Stewart, in the City, was entered, and a watch and chain stolen. This afternoon acting-detective MacLeod arrested a man. giving the name of Frank Heme, when in the act of attempting to sell some bi'oken-np jewellery. Stewart's natch and llic gold mountings of his Albert chain were found on him.
Hernc, who is about 2(1 years of age, says he recently came from America. He arrived here hy the Miihcno 011 Tuesday, and had a steerage ticket 011 him for Lyltelton.
