SUSPECTED MURDER.
k (Per Press Association.) , AUCKLAND, -Oct. 13. ; Thu Coroner opened an inquest today on Alexander Murrteon, the wharf labourer who died in the hus- . pital umlor suspicious circumstances. j After formal identitication, the inquest was adjourned. The detectives who have the cas« in hand suspect it to J'bc one [ murder. Murrison was terribly ba.tr ' tered about, his eyes woro closed ' up, his neck nwoHen, and his head badly bruised. Ho left "his house 1 early on Monday night, and was ' afterwards seen in the Criterion Ho- ' tel in the company of certain wo- ■ men. At aluouti eleven o'clock two seamen state that they saw a man l being dragged up the steps near the hotel, and % man who slopt in tho house where Murrison was .found says ho heard a uoiso In the passage at abfitlt 11 o'clock. No arrests have yet been made.
