FIRE AT AN ORHPANS' HOME

A •destructive fire occurred at tlw l'ainell Orphans' Homo at 8 o'clock this morning, tho boys' ami girls' dormitories, tho matron's quarters, dispensary, workroom, etc., 'being completely destroyed. The fire originated in the workroom, but 110 reason can be assigned, as there baa .lwcn iw> fire or light there since Thursday, and the room was perfectly safe at 7.30 a.m. The 'buildings and contents were insured for £1675 in the New Zealand oflice. The nurseries, kitchen, and school 'in t'he other 'buildings liad a narrow escape.
