CHARGE OF PIiDD. SHOPMEN HOB THELK EMPLOYED. (Per Press Association.} AUCKLAND, Sept. 13. Martin Whelan, chief shopman in R. and W. Hellahy's butchery establishment, and Edmund Robert Waller, manager of the Arm's lievonport branch, appeared in 'he Police Court this morning charged with having conspired to obtain quantities o| meat from U. and W. llellaby, and with having stolen meat to the value of £25 from their employers. Mr Sclwyn Mays, for the Crown solicitor, said that both men received good wages and held positions of trust in Messrs Hollaby's business. The. system of fraud adopted by the accused was for Whelan 'to spnd meat to the Devonport branch without debiting it to' the Devonport account, and lor Waller to sell the jueat without entering it. Confessions by both of the accusal were read, and both formally pleaded guilty, and were committed for sentence, bail being allowed.
