Xo one shall receive a certificate of proficiency tin-. less he—(a) Obtains at least 40 per cent, of the possible marks in English (jncluding not. than 40 per ! <-'e|it. in (»a c | { G f reading; and composition), and at Urnst. 40 per cent, of the possible marks in arithmetic ; (b) obtains at least (it) per cent, of the possible aggregate m«rks in following compulsory subjects—vis*., English, arithmetic, geography, and drawing ; and (c) satisfios the inspector that he has received sufficient instruction in the other compulsory subjects and in the additional subjects, as prescribed by these regulations.
