Taranaki Acclimatisation Society.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Acclimatisation Society was held a&jthe Town Hall on Saturday afternoon. Mr ty,-J*. Xowman, the President, occupied the chair. —Committee's Report.— In moving the adoption of the bal-ance-sheet, which appears in another column, the Chairman said ho regretted -the diminution of game through the reason stated, and feared an ultimate further decrease if the conference's recommendation were not given effect to by Parliament. Mr J. Paul seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously, —Re-stocking at Opunakc.— Mr G. R. Rogers, of Opunakc, wrote an. behalf of the anglers of that district, drawing attention to the absolute necessity of re-stocking all the riven In that district. Mr F. A. Swaziland wrote in the same strain. A number of gentlemen had signified their willingness to torrn a committee there to assist the Society, (including Messrs Mcßeynolds, J. JT. Hickey, 0. Strong, John Stewart, G. M. Rogers, Dr. Morrison, .and others. Mr Swaziland intimatnl his willingness to act as rang6r. The Chairman and members agreed that Opunake had strong claims lot consideration, especially as there were a few thousand fish still available for distribution. The suggestion ol forming a local committee was also favourably received, and eventually the matter was referred to thw ' incoming committee. —Election of Officers.— Mr W. L. Newman was re-elected President, and Mr D. McAllum Secretary and treasurer. The committee mwa constituted :—Messrs J. Paul, J., Gibson, jun., \V. Bewley, H. Newland, J. E. Wilson (all re-elected), and G. Hamtcring. Mr Corkill voluntarily gave place to the latter. The usual votes of thanks concluded the meeting.
