Political Labour League.

A meeting of the recently formed Now Plymouth branch of the Politiicul Labour League was held on Wednesday evening at the Whiteley Hull. Mr J. Christopher presided over a satisfactory attendance. —Election of Officers.— The election of officers for tho ensuing year, resulted :—President, Mr .J. Christopher; vice-president, Mr 11. Wilson; secretary, Mr W. Sadler,; treasurer, Mr J. Howell. Messrs E. Stephenson, W. H. Fitzpntrick, and A. Hich were elected to act on the committee with the above-mentioned officers.

—Forthcoming Conference.— A letter was road from the executive branch in Wellington, with reference to the conference of delegates from all Ihc branches of the League in the colony. The conference Is lo be held a,t Wellington on April 25. Mr E. Stevenson wis elected a delegate for the branch.

Considerable discussion took place with reference to the lighting platform of Ihc League, and finally it was resolved that the delegate inovo at the Conference to have the following addition made to en effective increase be pul on the graduated land tax and a reduction be granted in the duties on those necessaries of life wWch are not manufactured or produced within the lony."The delegate was further Instructed to recommend to the Conference the advocacy of electoral reform on the linos of proportional reprcscnta* lion fib outlined in the Hill submitled! by Mr Fowlds, M.H.R. —Weights and Measures.— One or 'two members gave their exigences with regard to ullegc4 short weight in bread, butter, and other necessaries. They asserted, that they hod purchased articles two ounces short in the pound Jn New Plymouth.
