; WAVEKLEY v. NEW PLYMOUTH. ' A visiting team representing the Waverley Club arrived on Thursday evening, and on Friday tried conclusions with the local players at the courts in Vivian-street. A perfect day heightened the pleasure of the re-union, and an exceedingly pleasant day was spent in friendly rivalry. An early start was macfe, but still it was after 0.30 before the last match was concluded". The courts were in fair condition, and a series of keen contests were witnessed. A large gathering of spectators assembled in the afternoon, and tno ladles of the club dispensed afternoon tea. There wos very little to choose between the two clubs, but Waverley scored more consistently, and eventually ran out the winners by 190 to 173. Following are the scores : ; SINGLES. A. 0.
