With reference lo the refusal of the Sydney authorities v to allow two Maori shearers to land in Sydney, t'-.e Premier communicated with the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth asking for an inquiry, and stating thut one of the Maoris has alleged that the education test was not app.licd. In reply Mr Seddon has received a message from Mr Reid, dated Melbourne 27th inst., as follows■:—Just returned from Tasmania. Your message received. Will maEo instant inquiry. If allegations arc correct severe censure will follow.
