NEW ZEALAND APPLES FOR ENGLAND
PROBABLE SHIPMENT BY THE » RAKAIA. (Per Press Association.) 1 AUCKLAND, Feb. 23. The proposed shipment of apples to England, under n Government guarantee of Id per pound net, will probably take place next month by the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Rakaia. The Auckland arrangements are in the hands of the pomologist, Mr W. A. Boucher, who anticipates that possibly half the chamber load of apples may be collected in the north, leaving the rest of the chamber to be tilled by southern growers. It is not yet certain whether the vessel will call at Lyttelton, where the southern consignment is to be collected, and till that is known the arrangements cannot be regarded as definitely settled.
