ANNUAL MEETING OF SUBSCRIBERS.
The annual meeting of subscribers to the Municipal '.'Library was held at the Town Hall on Tuesday eve.tring, His Worship the Mayor, Mr H. Cock, presiding. There were I» , <*« ;nL —Hev. Woollcv, Messrs C. E. Dellrin>>cr, Kclscj',. .1. White, and F. T. Belirtnger (-lion, secretary). The committee's report stated the number- of subscribers was 280, the receipts i'i-oni whom aiuountfd to £l5O 9s 9d. The total number of books .in the library Is 5305, of which 412 were .added during the year. Out of a. total Oif 15,94-1 [books taken out .during the year 15,400 were works uf fiction. It was notified that a catalogue had been, '.compiled, ami was now in the print'crs' hands. The committee congratulated Messrs Kelsey and Medley on jtho excellunt choice of books purchased by them for the library,, and thct services of the librarian, Miss Free., and the caretaker, Mr Drewett, were well spoken of. The accounts showed a total income of £277 Is lOd, and the expenditure £-240 9s 2d, leaving a balance, of £36 12s BuV against which were Tiablli.t.ics (including catalogue) amounting! to about £3O.
On tho motion of the Mayor, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. Messrs Kelsey, C. E. : llellringer, W. HI Skinner, and the Rev. Woo.!ley were elected to the committee. On the motion of Mr .I.White a hearty vote of thanks wasi accorded to the committee, and the Mayor, in putting the vote, regretted the public did not attend the meeting in larger numbers,
