The Conci'liation Board settled the plumbers' agreement for South Canterbury to-day, awarding 44 hours per week, and wages Is- 3d i>er hour, sheet metui working Is ljd. Overtime was fixed at time und a quarter for under two hours', then ■lima and a half, with the usual arrangements regarding underpaid men and assistants. Preference to unionists was allowed. Apprentices are to be bound for six years. The flaxmiilers renewed their old award.
