Board of Governors.

The Board of High School Governors met on Wednesday. There were presort : Messrs N. K. MacDiarmid, (chairman), E. Dockrill, J, E. Wilson, J. B. Roy, and D. Berry. The Chairman and Mr Roy were empowered to act as necessary to recover rents in arrears.

The Chairman stated that as th aum of £ISOO had been forwarded by the Government, Messrs Newing ami Hughes had been paid the amount «Jue to them in respect to their leases at Patea. Newing had been paid £IO9O 13s 3d, and Hughes £4BB 7s lOd, a total 0f£1579 la Id. Of this the former had paid oackrent due amounting; to £256 8s 9d, and the tatte.-£142 9s 9d, a total of £398 18s. They were now monthly tenoats.

It was decided to terminate the present tenancy and to take the necessary siteps to re-let the property by public leader. The Secretary - stated that Messrs Boy Dockrill and AUsworth retire by rotation, and the board decided to recommend the re-appointment of Messrs Roy and Dockrill. The Chairman and Mr Hoy were appointed to consider the question | Ot the appointment of free pupils. The Secretary was authorised to arrange for the seating accommodation at" the breaking-up ceremony on Thursday, the 22nd inst. The Chairman was instructed to procure the dux's medal. The next meeting was fixed for February 15th. Accounts amounting: to £lßl 10s Jd were passed for payment. The Chairman referred to the Heath of Captain Cornwall, one of the first members of the boaid, and •movedthat a minute be entered euJogtsing his services on the board, and that a letter of condolence be forwarded to Ms widow. This was seconded by Mr Dockrill, end carried unanimously.
