For over two hours on the same day the heavy guns worked effectively on Russian ships, including the Polbavp,, which raised a thick smoke lastinc; an hour. The siege of Sunshusan and the forts to the east is conUnjujng day and night. On the 4th tho Japanese captured two quickiiring jjims in a caponiere of the Erlungshan fort. On the 6th the heavy guns renewed the bombardment of the ships with a satisfactory result, and these ore still continuing their work.
