Arbitration Court.
(Per Press Association). TIMARU, September 14. At a sitting of the Arbitration Court this evening the Christchurch Meat Company (Smitlnfield) was charged with committing two breaches of the award to the Tanners and Fellmongers Union by (1) employing 50 fellmongers on Saturday afternoons without paying overtime, (2) paying 50 fellmongers le3s th a n the award wages of lOjd per hour, the wages paid being 7Jd and 9d. The first complaint was dismissed, as.fellmongers were not included in the award so far as hours are concerned. The second charge was admitted, but extenuating circumstances were pleaded. Counsel foi the department stated that in 14 months the deficiency in wages amounted to £SOO, und he calleo some evidence to rebut the plea of extenuating circumstances. This case is not yet concluded.
