A Maori Opera.
•-•TAPU" IN SYDNEY, The presentation of tho opera 'Tapu," founded upon Maori traditions, was an unqualified success on Saturday evening in Sydney. A large house accorded the opera am enthusiastic reception. The ijoniposer, Mr Alfred Hill, and all prominently concerned in the production received flattering receptions. The Herald sayp Its absolutely novel setting, local colouring, charm of music and picturesque animation of the dances presents a tout ensemble that is certain to attract playgoers throughout the Commonwealth. The Telegraph says it deservedly won a large and enthusiastic measure of appreciation.Mr Hill was associated with Mi' Arthur Adams and Mr J. C. Williamson in the production of the opera, which is being played by the Williumson Opera Company.
