Naval Volunteers.
(Per Press Association.) CHIUSTCHIiKCII, May 12. Recruiting is now proceeding for tlie permanent naval force, in terms ot last session's naval agreement. Captain Robinson, of 11.M.5. Tnuranga, now at Lylteltou, Ims selected 24 men in the Canterbury district towards New Zealand's quota of 144. lie purposes selecting a similar number at the sports of Auckland, Wellington and Dune-din, and allotting the balance of 48 to country districts. Recruiting for ihe imv.ii reserve will not. be begun till June. Applications for the permanent force are coming forward freely, an.) taifl Robinson expresses satisfaction at the stamp of youths offering.
