(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 12. At the Supreme Court to-day Norman Gillies, on a charge of breaking and entering wi th a viow to commit a crime was convicted and sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment, the sentence to l>e reviewed if accused was ot good conduct or it was found that he was mentally deficient. PALMERSTON NOKTH, May 12. The Supreme Court opened this mbfning. Addressing the Grand Jury the Chief Just-ice congratulated the district on the absence of serious crime, those Cases before him being sitrSple,- and arising in the majority of instances from drink. True bills wero returned against Stephen Walsh, theft, two counts, and John Henderson, alias Miles, breaking and entering.
