HOMEBUSH SALES. (Received May 2, 11.a p.m.) SYDNEY. May 2. At the Honiebush sales the demand 'for sheep was strong and late rates were maintaltued. Best wethers 21s 6d, ewes to 17s 6d, Cattle were steady. Best bullocks £lO 10s to £ll. good £9 3s best cows £7 15 to £B, good £7, best beef 255.
HOME MARKETS. WELLINGTON, May 8. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received tho follow<tog from the Agent-General dated London 30th : Mutton market ib quiet. Average price to-day : Canterbury mutton, 4Jd per lb; for other brands and North Island mutton 4Jd. Lamb market is steady, and prospects for the sale of New Zealand lamb this season are good. Average prices to-day—Canterbury brands 7d per lb ; brands other than Canterbury, sfd. Beef.—There is a better demand for beef. Average prices to-day-Hindquarters New* Zealand beef BJd; fores, 2fd. Butter market Is 'dull, buyers holding off on account of large supplies coming forward, and will not purchase more than will supply immediate requirements. The present is the worst butter market experienced during the past ten years. Average price of choicest New Zealand to-day is 86s per cwt.; Australian, 84s; Argentine. 83s; Danish, 93s ; Siberian, 80s.
T Cheese market Is- falling heavily and ; the market is very depressed, and likely to remain so. A new make of Canadian is offering at 38s per
cwt c.l.f. Average price price of fin—fst New Zealand cheese to-day is 444 per cwt. Jerop market is steady with no chflbge in prices. CocKsfoot seed market Is steady. Not much demand, but prices are firm, and I anticipate no change In the market.
