I'rivatc information received in Wellington yesterday announced the death in London of Mr Alfred C. Carlick, a director of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company. Dean Kirk, for many jears in charge of St. Mary's parish. Wanganui, died at that, town at 10.15 last night. Deceased had been laid aside for a considerable time, and his death will be greatly regret Ud by nil classes of the community.

A deputation waited upon Mr J. I'uthie, M.11.1t., and asked him lo consent, to nomination for the .Mayoralty. Mr I'uthie expressed doubt as to his ability to carry out Hie work pertaining to the dual position of member and mayor, bid if a younger man could not be obtained he might accept nomination.
