In the Federal House of Representatives, Mr Bruce Smith, continuing the debate on the Address-in-Reply, said he saw no prospect of the Ministry or the Opposition carrying on resnonsiblejjajoverniiient. lie would like to sec the Labour Party come into power, because he was willing to credit its members with a patriotic desiie to do their duty. He would like to see them feel the weight of responsibility and power, and have the onus of conducting the business of the country. The party would either have to change its mode of thought and action, or there' would be such a re-action in the country as would ■drive it out of Parliament. Mr Smith said he believed the former .would happen.
