Steel says the Marylebone Club secured a wonderful lot of all-round players. He believes victories nowadays are won by all-round-ers. Perhaps England would have lost the rulVher if the team had included a number of star batsmen. The Times says that Trumpet* is probably the best batsman in the .world, and Xoble the best all-round player. It adds : "The success of the tour leads to the hope that the Marylebone Club will conduct all future tours.''Playing on tho High School grounds yesterday Carrington Road defeated New Plymouth juniors by 80 runs. The winners made 105—Mynott 19, Richards 18, Reid 17, and Hammond 15 being the only doublefigure men.
