FISCAL CONTROVERSY.
REFERENCES IX FEDERAL GOVERNOR'S SPEECH. DISCUSSED IN THE COMMON'S. (Received March 8, 10.33 p.m.) LONDON, March 8. In the House of Commons the Hon A. Lyttelton, Secretary of State for the Colonies, replying to Mr J. C. Flynu, member for North Cork, said the Ministers of the Crown in Australia were solely responsible for Lord Northcote's speech, at the opening of the Federal Parliament, containing allusions to preierence. There was no ground for communicating with Lord Northcote with reference thereto. Mr William Redmond asked whether, seeing that partisan references to controversial topics were not included in the King's speech at the opening of the Imperial Parliament, the attention of the Commonwealth Ministers should be called to the matter, Mr Lyttelton replied that he saw no reason to alter his previous answer. Air Redmond thereupon declared : '* I.will bring tho question up on (the Estimates.-
