SOUTH AFRICA.

CHINESE LABOUR QUESTION. (Received Feb. 2, 9.47 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 2. Hon. A. Lyttelton's reply to the protest from Cai«e Colony with regard to the introduction of Asiatics into the Transvaal is similar to his reply to Mr Seddon. He refers to tlw unanimity of the Bloemfoutem conference, and adds that it would be all tjie mare difficult to justify a refusal to accode to the Transvaal's wishes in view of the precedent long since established in the case of Natal. A public meeting is to be held in Wellington, probably on Saturday, to protest against the importation of Chinese coolies into the Transvaal.
