Education Finance
THE POSITION IN TARANAKI. The report of the Finance Committee of the Education Board on the financial position, is in the following terms . On June 22nd last a debit balance of £.'!l9 17s C»d was reported, and on October 81st this had increased to £-6-47 7s lOd. This was a charge against the current year's building; account, estimatod at £1750, thus leaving about £llOO to carry on with till the end of the year. Aftei a careful review of the whole position the committee made the following recommendations Waitara.—That the architect be instructed to report on the cost of alterations v O3Ki additions to the school. Ktaimata.—That plans be prepared and tenders called for additions sufficient to accommodate 50 scholars. Ratapiko.— I That the architect report on the cost of throwing! the teacher's rooms into the school to provide accommodation, and the erection of a four-roomed cottage. Jwglewood.—That'a grant of £ for £, the Board's share not to exceed £25, lie voted for drainage and improvements. -M'i'cHnirst.—That plans and estimates of a six-roomed cottage be prepared. Block 18, Waitara East.—That the <l(iic.stion of leasing be re/erred to Mr Faull.
Several minor .recommendations were also made, and the report concluded with a suggestion that application he made lor am advance an account oi tlie building grant.
