RAID ON BETTING SHOPS
Ver Frees Association. Ddnedin, October 8. The police to-day made a raid on alleged betting shops, and made a number of arrests, securing about ,£IOO in money. The first place visited was that of Peter Grant, who was charged with keeping a common gaming house, W. Alexander being charged with , assisting, and M. Delahuntz for being on the premises without lawful excuse. Books, papers and about £4O in money were taken. Ahe Moss' premises were next raided, and H. Goodman, Jas. Todd, and H. Goodman, ssnr., arrested. The tobacconist shop of B. Curtis was then visited. All those | arrested were bailed out.
